Karen Kallet
President
Karen L. Kallet has had a life long passion for marketing and is currently Vice President of Online and Direct Marketing for Weil Lifestyles/ drweil.com. Karen also owns a successful Marketing and Lead generation consulting company, a publishing company and co-owns a package good company, Innofresh Products, Inc. In her career, she served in a variety of senior leadership positions in marketing and advertising with corporations. She was previously Vice President of Advertising, Internet and Lead Generation for Universal Technical Institute and served in senior marketing and advertising positions at Del Webb, SkyMall, America West Airlines, Western International Media, and Valley National Bank. Karen received her BFA in Advertising Design from Syracuse University. In 2003, she was named Advertising Person of the Year for the Phoenix market, the highest honor given by the Ad2 club to an industry leader. She is past president of the Phoenix Ad Club and a Past President of the Arizona Direct Marketing Association. She gives back to the community by running the in transition group for professionals is our field who are in job transition.

Marilyn Kafka
Immediate Past President
Marilyn’s full professional career spans 20 years, nine of which were spent directing the business development and marketing efforts for a community bank as well as a federally chartered credit union, she successfully managed all facets of the marketing plan for two distinct brands and 15 office locations in both the Phoenix and Tucson markets.
Marilyn’s experience in database and direct marketing in both corporate as well as a consultant with agencies includes design and execution of the integrated direct marketing programs for consumer and business to business for client acquisition, growth and retention.
She is has the distinct honor of serving on the board of the Phoenix Chapter of the American Marketing Association as President in the chapter’s 50th year anniversary.
A native of upstate New York, Marilyn has made Arizona her home for the past 20 years. She attended Arizona State University where she met her husband Phil, and they both never looked back. They reside in north central Phoenix, with their two sons.

Jackie Wetzel
President Elect
Since graduating from Arizona State University, Jackie Wetzel quickly has built a career in the Valley’s media industry through her work at The Phoenix Business Journal. As a member of the paper Wetzel has developed marketing programs, overseen business development initiatives, implemented customer service best practices and maintained advertising sales forecasts for the publication. Wetzel also was a founding member of The Journal’s marketing committee, the group responsible for the recent promotion of the paper’s extensive redesign.
Wetzel also has made community involvement a staple of her professional and personal life. She’s a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters and a board member for Junior Achievement’s Stock Market Challenge. At The Journal, Wetzel spearheaded the paper’s involvement with United Way and Make a Difference day. She is currently serving as VP of Hospitality and wants to be President elect to make a big difference and have an impact with all her ideas and connections in growing AMA Phoenix.

Stacee Amos
Secretary
Stacee's contagious enthusiasm and strategic focus have resulted in brand
awareness for companies and products including, Panama Tourism, MetLife
Financial Services, Kraft/Nabisco, Main Street Bank, Fidelity Investments, Fidelity
Bank, and most recently, ten Marriott and Renaissance luxury resort properties in the
Caribbean and Mexico.
She has the conscientious drive to deliver great work and will not be satisfied
until she has measurable proof of a job well done. Stacee believes in beginning-to-end
accountability and has the drive to lead brands to achieve excellent results.
Recently relocating to the Southwest from Atlanta, Georgia, Stacee graduated
from the University of Miami in Broadcast Management and English Literature.

John Bord

As President and Chief Marketing Officer for Guevavi, John leads a team of marketing, advertising, and public relations experts who connect local and national clients with relevant consumer and business market segments through one-to-one communications.
He has an extensive marketing, advertising and public relations background from nearly 20 years working in arts, education, government and the corporate sector. Prior to forming Guevavi, John served as a Senior Business Segment Manager at Salt River Project, the nation’s third largest public utility, where he managed all marketing and advertising programs for the SMB segment. While at SRP, John previously managed marketing, communications and community events for the Hispanic consumer segment.
John received his Bachelor of Science in Communication from Arizona State University and earned an MA in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. He also holds Executive Certificates in International Marketing Management and International Marketing Strategy from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Career highlights include receiving Presidential invitations to the White House for the National Medal of Arts Awards, a Fire Scene Commendation from the City of Scottsdale, and earning multiple industry awards for marketing and advertising campaigns.
John is Past-President of the Phoenix Chapter of the American Marketing Association, and recently served on the Professional Chapters Council for the American Marketing Association in Chicago. He currently is Chair of the CMO Advisory Panel for AMA Phoenix. In addition, John is a Faculty member in the College of Business for the University of Phoenix Southern Arizona Campus.
Recognized for his thought leadership for integrating strategic marketing with one-to-one and digital print communications, John is a featured speaker for Hewlett-Packard and the American Marketing Association at national and International conferences, as well as executive seminars. He combines expertise in relationship marketing and multicultural communications to grow brand loyalty while increasing business revenue.

DD Kullman (DD)

A turn of phrase. A well-placed pun. Alliteration and parallel construction. That’s the realm this Princess of Prose loves to dabble in. After 20 years under her belt as a copywriter and creative director, D.D. is certain you can’t bore anybody into reading anything.
Personal, friendly and easily understood communication is her forte. Tours of duty include Senior Writer stints with Phoenix ad agencies such as McCann-Erickson/Phoenix, Lavidge Baumayr, The Martz Agency, E.B. Lane and McMurry Ad Group, the last where she served as Creative Director and Vice President, General Manager.
D.D. also was National Director of Marketing for High-Tech Institute, Inc., a private, post-secondary career college group with 17 schools in 12 states, and Manager of Marketing and Communications for the Office of the Vice President for Global Engagement at ASU. She currently is creative director at Parker Madison Dialogue Marketing, a creative consultancy specializing in brand strategy, marketing and design.
D.D.’s account experience includes everything from healthcare and hospitality to homebuilding and high-tech. Clients she’s written for include The Downtown Phoenix Partnership/Copper Square, Scottsdale Healthcare and John C. Lincoln Health Network, Doubletree, Hilton and Wyndham Hotels, Arizona State University, Del Webb, T.W. Lewis and Richmond-American Homes, Motorola, Dial Corp., Suncor, and The Stone Canyon, Pine Canyon and Quintero Golf Clubs.
During her career, D.D. has shown a long history of support for the advertising industry and the local community. She currently teaches advertising courses as an adjunct faculty member at The Art Institute of Phoenix. She also serves on the board of the American Marketing Association – Phoenix Chapter, and is managing editor of Southwest Graphics magazine, a professional journal published for the communications industry.
D.D. is at home in any medium, whether it’s print, broadcast, outdoor, direct mail or interactive. And while her entrepreneurial side loves the business of “the business,” her first love is concepting creative solutions that entertain, inspire and motivate readers to act. And crafting compelling copy that goes from prosaic to powerful, promptly.

Ben Campbell
VP Collegiate Relations
After graduating with a B.S. double majoring in Business Management as well as Marketing from Northwest Missouri State University in May, Ben packed up his truck and drove over 1,200 miles to relocate to the Valley of the Sun. He is the Director of Sales & Marketing for Bold Impressions, a graphic design firm located near Downtown Phoenix. There he is responsible for lead generation, servicing of existing accounts, development of marketing plans and strategies, as well as assisting with copy writing. As a student Ben was very active in Northwest’s Student Chapter of AMA which makes him an ideal fit for VP of Collegiate Relations.
Ben is originally from small town Nebraska and personifies the down-to-earth, can do attitudes of the Midwest. Ben’s enthusiasm for all things marketing is surpassed only by his undying devotion to his beloved Phoenix Suns and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Scott Appel is the director of the Phoenix branch of Allison & Partners – a national public relations and marketing firm headquartered in San Francisco. Scott has been an active member of the AMA for many years. He was on the inaugural committee, as well as subsequent committees, for the Spectrum Awards. Scott has more than 12 years of marketing experience including both agency experience as well as in-house experience. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s in marketing and earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix in global management.

Amy Thomas
VP Events
Amy Thomas specializes in small to large event development, brand management, and developing sales support tools. Amy has a passion for leading high-stake, out-of-the-box initiatives and strategies, such as development of a charter high school on a college campus, centralizing marketing efforts for over 50 departments, and building entire marketing departments from scratch. Her professional experience also includes project management for web-based incentive programs at Altour Incentive Management, where she interfaced with Fortune 500 clients including Cisco Systems, DHL, and McDonald’s Corporation. She also has over 10 years of progressive marketing and sales experience in the semiconductor, jewelry, fitness, and food industries. Amy earned an MBA with an emphasis in Marketing from Grand Canyon University and a BS in Business Management from University of Phoenix. Amy is known for her “can-do” attitude and sense of “esprit-de-corps” which she credits to her experience serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1985 – 1989. Amy currently lives in Phoenix and enjoys hiking, snow skiing, and yoga.

Patrick Howley

Patrick Howley is president of The Howley Group, LLC, a marketing consulting firm with a focus on brand positioning, product innovation, strategic planning, consumer research and Customer Relationship Management. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies to smaller non-profit organizations. His prior work experience includes marketing with Colgate-Palmolive and Petsmart, and advertising with Grey Advertising and J. Walter Thompson. Patrick has been involved in the AMA for about five years, first with the Kansas City chapter and now with the Phoenix chapter. He is the current VP of Finance for the Phoenix chapter. He also serves on the board of the Community Health Charities and does pro-bono work for the Arts and Business Council.

Cara Hughes

Having developed a career within loyalty marketing, Cara recognized that many companies do not understand or appreciate the value of such a program. As a result she set out to create a company which would work with clients’ existing marketing departments to develop, launch and manage loyalty marketing programs. Having a strong understanding of the discipline of Loyalty Marketing, Cara has set out to assist companies in developing and executing efficient and effective marketing plans which target those 20% of customers who generate 80% of the revenue.
Prior to introducing Eighty-Twenty Marketing, Inc. to the Business World, Cara was Director of Gold Crown Club (GCCI) and Speed Rewards, Best Western’s worldwide frequent traveler and NASCAR Loyalty programs respectively. Cara’s responsibilities included the acquisition and retention of all GCCI members’ worldwide, communications to such members, business and vendor partner relationships within the GCCI program and all international brand marketing, including the first ever international promotion for the Best Western International brand. Cara fine tuned her loyalty marketing skills as an Associate Manager of FlightFund, America West’s frequent flyer program. At America West Cara played a key role in increasing partner revenue to the program from $6M annually to $22M annually.
Cara graduated magna cum laude from Framingham State College, in Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Finance. During Cara’s junior year she was invited into the National Honor Society of Economic, Xi Chapter. Cara also holds a Master’s of Art Degree in Marketing Communications and Advertising from Emerson College in Boston. Cara is actively involved with Phoenix Children’s Hospital Oncology Department, having organized two successful fundraisers and is currently working with the Oncology Department to organize St. Baldrick’s Day to benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Scott is the Business Development Manager/Product Manager for The Analytical Group, Inc. a market research firm in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is responsible for Analyticals' WinCross, WinQuery and QueryWeb software products as well as business development. Scott has been with Analytical since 1999 holding various positions including Data Collection Manager where he was responsible for overseeing their Chicago and Scottsdale phone interviewing operations. Prior to that he was a Field Project Director at Research Resources for 2 years. (Research Resources is now Research International). Scott received his BA in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington in 1997.

Nathalie is a seasoned database marketer, having worked as marketing director to grow audiences for the performing arts and as a direct mail consultant to many clients in the not-for-profit and retail arenas for over 20 years. She was Director of Marketing for Ballet Arizona, Sales Manager for Republic Direct and more recently Director of New Business Development for World Marketing, an end-to-end provider of direct marketing, fulfillment and critical document processing solutions. Nathalie serves on the board of the Phoenix Chapter of the AMA as Direct Marketing Chair and is responsible for the Spectrum Awards entry selection process. Originally from Montreal, she has been living in Arizona since 1996.

As Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Valley of the Sun United Way, John directs all facets of brand stewardship for one of the state’s largest non profits. He oversees a diverse mix of marketing and communications functions including advertising, marketing, interactive and public relations. With nearly a decade of brand strategy expertise, his energetic leadership and creative thinking continues to strengthen United Way’s brand position. John previously served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Arizona Lottery where he created various marketing campaigns focused on the general and multicultural markets. John has also been featured as a panelist and guest speaker at notable industry conferences. John is a native of Phoenix and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing from Arizona State University.

Perla Flores

Perla Flores is a bilingual marketing, public relations, community-outreach and Hispanic marketing consultant. Born and raised in the border area of Tijuana and San Diego, Perla has lived in Arizona since 1992. She holds a BA in Spanish Literature and Culture from the University of California, Irvine, as well as a MBA from Arizona State University.
As owner and managing partner of Principal Marketing and Communications, Perla is in charge of account management and client services. Perla serves as the main client contact and supervises the successful completion of all public relations and marketing projects. Most recently she was managing director for the Phoenix office of Guerra DeBerry Coody, a large full service agency headquartered in San Antonio.
Before joining Guerra DeBerry Coody, she worked as an assistant brand manager on Purex brands and other laundry additives for the Dial Corporation in Scottsdale. Previously, she acted as Hispanic marketing director for Banner Health in Phoenix. At Banner, she created and implemented a comprehensive Hispanic marketing program for 33 hospitals in 5 states and developed the plan to re-brand Samaritan into Banner Health. Earlier in her career, she held marketing roles at the Arizona-Mexico Commission, the Greater Phoenix and Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureaus.

Joe Ray
Hispanic SIG Co-Chairperson
Co-founder of Estudio Ray, Joe has over 25 years of experience on the creative side of design, advertising, branding, and marketing. A good portion of his career includes bridging the cultural divide between Latino consumers and the General Market when it comes to effective messaging.
Joe has spearheaded the development of many successful and award winning campaigns and projects, which include name development, brand identities and related campaigns, product packaging, retail signage and a comprehensive list of sales and marketing collateral materials for the General market as well as for the Latino marketplace.
His expertise includes the areas of Consumer packaging, Brand development and advertising for Food and Beverage products, Health Services, Pharmaceutical branding, Financial Services, Development/Real Estate branding and Retail design/branding as well as Arts and Culture.
Joe has received over 80 local, regional and national awards for his work, which has also been featured in several publications and creative annuals, including Communication Arts, Print Magazine, Create, Industrial Design and How Magazine.
In his support of non-profits, Joe serves on the Board of Directors for SARRC (Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center) in Phoenix, and is also an active artist member of Xico, Inc., a Chicano/Native American arts organization in the Phoenix area as well as a participating member of the recently created group TOMA (Taller de Multicultural Artists), a loosely based group of artists that gather and participate in printmaking sessions and workshops.

Shea Stickler

Shea Stickler, is an experienced global marketing, business development and operations executive, who has developed and launched several high-value price-point products and services while the VP of Business Operations and Marketing at Lam Research (f.k.a. SEZ Group). While with Lam/SEZ, Stickler introduced the Da Vinci® platform, a $3.8M system for the semiconductor, photovoltaic/solar and power production markets, resulting in over $300M in sales. His expertise in business-to-business marketing and services marketing is evidenced by his capacity to develop strategic partnerships, revitalize service-based offerings and develop strategic plans to meet organizational objectives with cost effective returns. As a result he grew the company's market share and was promoted to oversee the entire supply chain from marketing and sales, to customer support to order fulfillment. Prior to joining Lam/SEZ, Shea Stickler served as the International Marketing Manager for Atomika Instruments, GmbH, a German analytics manufacturer. There he developed direct client relationships and capitalized on the company's IP to create new value propositions. Stickler has served as an account manager at AdCom Communications, a national advertising and PR firm, where he worked with a diverse client set including, AirEvac®, Hypercom®, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame®, Banner Health® among others. Stickler also helped launch Advanced Environmental Solutions, a division of RAL Consulting, which established the company's product offerings as Green alternatives to bio-remediation, commercial/cleaning products, and equine/pet care products. Stickler earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Arizona State University, where he is currently completing a MBA at the prestigious W.P. Carey College of Business.
