Chair Named for AMA Phoenix Spectrum Awards
The Phoenix Chapter of the American Marketing Association has named Veronique James, president of the brand development firm The James Agency, as the chair of the 2012 AMA Phoenix Spectrum Awards.
In its tenth year, the signature event of the AMA’s Phoenix chapter honors marketing, design, research and public relations professionals and will be held in Old Town Scottsdale May 2012.
The Spectrum Awards showcase the year’s best marketing ideas and, unlike other award platforms,
are open to all industry professionals whether working in an agency setting or as corporate
marketers. From the creative projects submitted, a panel of marketing experts selects the top
entries in more than 40 categories, including collateral pieces, interactive or online messaging, broadcast
and print ads and public relations campaigns. Because of overall economic conditions, the most
recent awards have seen a dip in participation and creative entries.
“For the diamond anniversary, it is my goal to reinvigorate the Spectrum Awards as well as boost
the volume of creative work submitted for consideration in 2012,” Veronique James, Spectrum Award chair,
said. “We have an abundance of talent in the Valley that deserves recognition. As the newly appointed awards chair and also an active member of the creative community, I am in a unique position to reenergize the Spectrum Awards and build on the early successes they experienced.”
With full service capabilities and resources from her own firm, James has successfully directed
many Valley large-scale events including the University of Arizona Tipoff Taste, the Big Kahuna
Classic golf tournament and the inaugural Valley Vintage Fashion Experience, all of which included
sizeable donations to a charity partner.
As the chair, James will utilize these previous event experiences as she oversees all logistics, vendor contributions, event coordination, branding, web design and marketing of the Spectrum Awards.
The Spectrum Awards play a highly visible role for the Phoenix chapter of the American Marketing
Association, which is a resource for more than 3,000 Valley professionals. Members are able to
connect, exchange ideas and receive the most up-to-date industry training tools.
Each year, 40 professional development events including mentor shadow
days, job transition meetings and special interest groups are held throughout the Valley of the Sun.
“The Phoenix chapter of the American Marketing Association is a valuable instrument within the
marketing community and their Spectrum Awards foster a friendly competition among creative
professionals,” James said. “This competition motivates us to always deliver our best work to clients.”
